Loaders have become one of the main models for earthmoving operations in engineering construction because of their fast operating speed, high efficiency, high mobility and convenient operation. New loaders usually have a break-in period of about 20-50 hours (or walk-in period), which is an important stage before the equipment is put into formal operation. It is an important stage before the equipment is put into formal operation. Passing through the break-in period correctly is of great significance to reduce the failure rate, prolong the life of the equipment, and improve the utilization efficiency. In this article, we will introduce the common characteristics of the loader break-in period and precautions.

Loader Break-In Period: Maintenance Details Should Not Be Ignored

First, the main characteristics of the break-in period

Wear faster: Due to the processing and assembly errors of the new machine parts, rough surface, small contact area, easy to produce metal chips in the process of operation, accelerated wear. If this stage of overload operation, it is very easy to lead to early failure.

Poor lubrication: Uneven gap between parts, the oil film is difficult to form adequately, affecting the lubrication effect, easy to cause surface scratches or ablation phenomenon.

Easy loosening of parts: Assembly errors and alternating loads lead to loosening of some fasteners, which will cause abnormal wear or damage to parts if not checked in time.

High risk of leakage: Seals are affected by vibration, thermal expansion and contraction, and are prone to oil and water leakage, and some potential defects may be exposed at this stage.

Frequent operation errors: Operators who are not familiar with the structure and performance of the equipment, or who have not received systematic training, are prone to damage or safety accidents caused by misoperation.

Precautions during the break-in period

Standardize operation, read the manual first: Operators should receive training from the manufacturer, read the Loader Operation and Maintenance Manual, and familiarize themselves with the operation specifications and maintenance points.

Control the intensity of operation: The load should not exceed 70% of the rated load during the break-in period to avoid overheating and abnormal wear and tear of the equipment caused by long-time continuous operation.

Closely observe the meter: The meter reading should be watched at any time during the operation, and if there is any abnormality, stop the machine in time for investigation to avoid sick operation.

Strengthen the lubrication inspection: Check the level and quality of lubricating oil, hydraulic oil, coolant, fuel and other fluids daily, and add grease to each lubrication point (except for special models).

Keep the whole machine clean: Clean dust and debris in time, check and tighten loose parts to prevent other damages caused by loosening.

Carry out the first maintenance on time: After the end of the break-in period, a comprehensive maintenance should be carried out, including replacing the oil, checking and adjusting the key parts, and it is recommended to use Shantui's designated oil products.

The use and maintenance of the loader during the break-in period is an important starting point for equipment life cycle management. Scientific operation and timely maintenance not only help reduce early failures and prolong service life, but also maximize the benefits of the equipment and guarantee the progress of the project. Shantui calls on the majority of users to pay attention to the management of the break-in period, in order to lay a solid foundation for the subsequent efficient and stable operation.
