HYUNDAI Construction Machinery Europe recently announced that its first mass-produced electric mini excavator, the HX19e, will go into production in April and is scheduled to make a stunning debut at Bauma 2025 in Germany. The move marks a key step in HYUNDAI's green transition.

The HX19e, HYUNDAI's first mass-produced electric model, is designed for scenarios such as urban utilities, landscaping, tunnelling and basement excavation, as well as for municipal projects such as sports stadiums and cemeteries. It weighs around 2.3 tonnes and offers two battery pack options of 32kWh and 40kWh, which can support nearly seven hours of intense construction on a single charge, making all-weather continuous operation hassle-free.

In terms of powertrain, the HX19e's 13kW electric motor drives an open-centre hydraulic system that delivers comparable or even better performance than the diesel version. At the same time, the equipment comes standard with biodegradable hydraulic oil, eliminating engine oil filters, fuel filters and other components, significantly reducing maintenance costs. In addition, the Hi-Mate remote management system allows users to monitor the battery status in real time and optimise the charging and discharging strategies to ensure efficient operation of the equipment.

As environmental regulations in Europe and the U.S. become stricter and stricter, the demand for electric construction equipment continues to grow, and the mass production of the HX19e not only meets the market's demand for zero-emission construction equipment, but also demonstrates HYUNDAI's ambitions in the field of green infrastructure. It is reported that HYUNDAI's electrification strategy for the North American market will be unveiled during the 2026 U.S. Construction Machinery Show, foreshadowing HYUNDAI's bid to take the lead in the global green infrastructure market with a more complete product matrix.
